🍳 About — Welcome to oneofmoms Kitchen

Delicious, approachable, and designed for real life — recipes you’ll actually enjoy making.

👋 Hi — I’m the person behind this kitchen

After decades as a seasoned software engineer, I made a choice: you only get this one life, so I retired early to spend more time on lifelong passions — cooking, crafting, travel, and more. I still love logic and step-by-step problem solving (old habits!), but now my solutions include buttery custards, simple weeknight dinners, and little projects that make life sweeter.

🧡 Why I started this blog

Just before my son left the nest to explore independent living, I tried teaching him how to cook his favorite dishes. He loved the idea but quickly got frustrated by complicated steps. That moment stuck with me. I realized that if I could start something simpler — especially for beginners — I could save a lot of frustration and make learning fun.

So I started this blog for him, and for you: to share delicious, reliable recipes that don’t require a culinary degree. If I can do it, you can too.

🍽️ What this site focuses on

The heart of this site is simple: delicious AND easy to cook recipes.

“Whatever I can do, you can too if you follow :-)”

You’ll find practical recipes, thoughtful explanations, and a learning path designed to build skills without overwhelm.

📚 Site structure — Where to begin

The “From Easiest” series will guide you from your first simple dishes to meals you never thought you could make — and impress yourself along the way.

👩‍🍳 Who this is for

I emphasize easy recipes and family-friendly meals — because good food should bring people together without stress.

🔧 What you’ll get from my recipes

  1. Clear ingredient lists with precise measurements.
  2. Step-by-step instructions written like a helpful friend in your kitchen.
  3. Tips and fixes for common beginner mistakes.
  4. Gradual skill-building through the “From Easiest” series.

🌟 Final note — Let’s cook together

My goal is practical — to make cooking less intimidating and more joyful. If you’re new here, start with a “From Easiest” recipe and trust the process. If you’ve cooked before, you might find a fresh approach or a new favorite for family meals, or start with a recipe in "inspiration" tab.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have questions, recipe requests, or a proud cooking win to share, I’d love to hear about it.
